Released May 2016 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One video game consoles, Overwatch is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

Overwatch puts players into two opposing teams of six, with each player selecting a pre-defined hero character from one of four classes: Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support. Each class has their own unique abilities and roles. The four character roles include:

• Offensive-type characters with high speed and attack with low defense
• Defensive-type characters to form choke points for enemies
• Support characters that provide power up buffs for teammates and weaken enemies
• Tank characters that have armor and lots of hit points to absorb enemy attacks and draw fire
  

  

Players work together to hold and defend control points on a map and/or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time. Players gain cosmetic rewards that do not affect gameplay (skins and victory poses). Blizzard plans to add competitive gameplay in June 2016.
