Decades ago the first Rainbow Six game was launched on PC as a stealth and tactical first person shooter where a single bullet was lethal. All in-game characters, terrorists, hostages or Rainbow operatives, can be instantly dispatched with only one or two bullets.

In this installment of the Rainbow Six, a tactical FPS series, players are split into assault and defense-oriented roles. Environmental destruction (break structures with explosives, or shoot walls to make bullet holes), can be used to create tactical advantages and strategy between players is emphasized.
A bullet-penetration system is also featured, meaning bullets that pass through structures deal less damage. Players can choose between many different operators from the Rainbow team, each with different nationalities, perks, weapons, and gadgets.
